"Tee It Up is a collection of 9 songs that are Billy Mac's Hallelujah Chorus to the game he loves."
Scott Sunde ~Seattle Post Intelligencer
His voice is rich, powerful, and recognizable. Billy Mac possesses a gift. His distinctive, gravelly vocals openly express the unashamed emotions which he captures in his masterfully written songs. Billy's newest CD "Tee It Up" captures the spirit of one of his other passions: the grand old game of golf.
Billy Mac's CD "Tales of Urban Romance" showcases his classy pop material–songs that could become today's hits and tomorrow's standards.
He lights up the stage. He brings down the house. Billy Mac reaches into the audiences and connects personally with his fans. As one critic noted:
"as his set progressed I found myself thinking of The Four Tops, of The Temptations, of Michael McDonald and Joe Cocker"
As a child, Billy began his musical journey by winning a city-wide talent search sponsored by a Seattle television station. Soon after he became a featured singer with adult orchestras and won a leading role in the traveling company of Broadway's "The Music Man."
Billy's family moved South and, to his great fortune, he was raised in New Orleans. There he grew up playing and singing alongside the legends of rhythm and blues, cutting his first tapes in the same studios that gave birth to the careers of Little Richard, Fats Domino, and Allen Toussaunt. After graduating from Tulane University he turned down scholarships to two preeminent law schools to study piano under the renowned symphonic jazz composer, Roger Dickerson.
Billy Mac's accomplishments won him writing and session playing stints in Mussels Shoals, Nashville, and L.A. as well as successful runs performing. It was in the company of greatness that Billy Mac developed his undeniably soulful sound. The talents that have earned him success as a singer, songwriter, session player, and performer are showcased in his current CD "Tales of Urban Romance" –those same talents which have made so many shows and events a success.
Billy now lives on a farm outside of Seattle with his wife, singer Merrilee Rush, and their small herd of Old English Sheepdogs.
